@porFRASA1 If they said that then I would get a new therapist! Considering they do not even know the cause yet (many theories of but no proven cause). I can tell you from experience it is not a disease!

I’m always looking for the cure for stuttering so I try to find out how it starts and exactly why people stutter first.. One time my friend was talking to his kid nephew and he kept interrupting him when he was trying to say something (for some reason) and the kids mum said “stop it, you’ll turn him into a stutterer” and I thought, so true! Thats probably how stuttering began, when people stopped listening to the full sentence and interrupts them. I hate when people do that to me

To all the stutterers out there, do you look at people with normal speech and do you wonder how the hell they do it? I have lots of trouble saying my name so when other guys named Brett have to say their name I think to myself, how did they do that?! What makes it so easy for them yet so hard for me? They have a voice box and lips just like me, so why do i have trouble and they dont? stuttering is a big mystery. For once I’d like to see someone with normal speech have trouble saying a word

Stuttering can be contagious too. I made my best friend a stutterer but he wasn’t as bad as me. Lol! It all has to do with self confidence. I can speak in public now…Believe in yourself. and don’t be ashamed.,,U can beat it….awsome guys.

from a stutterer, I think most stutterers who have acheived a reasonable amount of fluency have the greatest sense of humor. For me, it helps me deal with my stuttering

i had a similar experience. i was traveling and meeting new ppl, they asked me where i came from and i didnt say anything cause i couldn’t say, “new york”. after that, they thought i was retarded or something, so they had asked me what my name was….and i just laughed and walked away. the sad part is, i could hear them laughing behind me. -.-

It begins even when I say How are you? then it’s like h h h h h h h ow are you? Sometimes people say Iam fffffine and you? … I actually hate that. But stutter jokes is mostly funny.

so often, if someone asks my name, et if i feel ‘stuttering ‘ is on its way, et if i know i cant ‘say’ my name, i will s.p.e.l.l. it out, and then say it, as in: “T.O.M – TOM” etc… but, anytime someone gives me hard time, or puts me down,. or gets mean, – ironically, once i get mad, my stutter is non existent! – so, as lou ferigno/;bill bixby says:’ dont get me angry, you wouldnt like me when i get angry” ;0)
