Add your commentI’m pretty sure I’d be able to introduce myself in an alcoholics anonymus meeting because it always starts off with “hi, my name is Brett and I’m an alcoholic” and I’d feel comfortable with that flow of words. However I simply CANNOT say my name when one guy goes “Hi I’m Bob”. After they say their name they just look at you and expect you to say a one word answer, like “Brett” but I cant say Brett on cue like that. Or when someone just says “your first name is?” It feels impossible to say

3…when you talk in terms of difficult you are making a mistake. Believe me there are no difficult words! You THINK that some words are difficult and thats a total different approach. THINK i terms as: easy, light, nice this will help you.

ya ive been stuttering for a long time. i tried speech therapy didnt help much. but they did show me useful techniques. but when i try to use them in a random convo it doesnt work.. i feel like its muscle memory or reaction when i talk. body gets tense and then stutter. but i think if i want to get rid of it..i have to talk non stop with self confidence and be self aware. so when ever i feel i stutter i stop.

I have stuttered almost all my life. I have been successful in my career as a Government Contract Specialist. What I fear is having to speak in front of a large group of people which I have to do. I’m always looking for ways or tips to help!

Everyone holds a relationship with their stuttering (think that over) The first problem is that stutterers learn to speak consciously, once they do that speech is no longer “natural”. Why do people struggle with the same letters words and situations over and over again. While other times they are 100% fluent. Have you ever sort of forgot about stuttering and said a word and wondered how you got it out? Once you hold the key to fluency you wonder why you didn’t work on it years ago!

When i was a little kid i studdered all the time. Now at age 16, i rarely studder at all. Over the years i have found ways to help myself stop studdering. Most of which are mentioned in this video.
1. Seaking loudly
2. Speaking with a slightly difforent accent
3. Taking a deep breath
4. Taking your time while speaking
All these things has helped me thougout my life so far and now i almost never catch myself studder. And when i do, its very insignificant and barley noticed.

Many of the ideas above work. As a male who stammered for nearly 20 years, these are the things I found worked for me: Regular exercise requiring lots of coordination. This helps the corpus colosum develop neural pathways. Reading the Bible aloud every day. The WORD has power. If God is present with you..the stammering ceases.
Make friends and build self confidence.
Getting out of abusive family relationships.
FACE YOUR WORST FEARS. Get a job answering phones. Take a public speaking course.
